Disaster Countermeasures Information
■Storing tap water for emergency use
Due to the damages to the Fukushima Nuclear Power Stations, there is possibility that the amount of radioactive particles may increase when it rains. In case of predicted rain, we recommend you to store beforehand tap water covering the amount for about three-day use for emergency.
・To fill container-with-cap (PET bottles, water bottles, etc.) with water up to the mouth of container
・Such water can be used for up to three days if it is kept at normal room temperature and about10 days if kept in refrigerator
・Recommendable amount of water to be stored is 3 liters/person/day
■Radiation dose in the tap water and the air
“The Provisional Standard related to Limits on Food and Drink Ingestion (applicable to tap water)” indicates as 300 becquerels per kg for radioactive iodine (but 100 bequerels per kg for infants). As to the analysis results of radiation dose in the tap water and the air, they are available at the city’s Website or Twitter.
■Important --- Preparation for disasters
・To carry a portable radio with you
・To keep sneakers, flashlight, gloves, drinking water, etc. at your workplace
・To discuss with your family and decide means of contact with your family if separated and where to reunite
