■ Using the Telephone

Telephone numbers in Japan consist of AREA CODE + EXCHANGE + NUMBER, 
e.g., Matsudo City Office: 047-366-1111.
The area code for Matsudo is 047. Within the same city, there is no need to dial 047. But, when you use a cell phone, you need to dial AREA CODE any time.

Public pay phones can be used with10 yen and/or 100 yen coins or telephone cards. Please note that you won't get any change back when you use 100 yen coins.

Installing a Telephone For telephone installation, you need to apply at a NTT branch. You will need to bring your Foreign Registration Card, driver's license, or other documents in which the applicant's name and current address can be verified.
