Reporting Your Pregnancy

As soon as you find out that you are pregnant, be sure to report your pregnancy to Residents Health Consultation Offices (Shimin Kenko Sodan Shitsu). You will receive a Maternal and Child Health Handbook (Boshi Kenko Techo). This handbook records prenatal checkups as well as postnatal health conditions of both the mother and baby, and the growth of the child. It is also required for consultations and medical treatment.

You can buy Maternal and Child Health Handbooks in several languages on the web book stores.
e.g. Kinokuniya Book Web http://bookweb.kinokuniya.co.jp/
     Yamato Book Service  http://market.bookservice.co.jp/top/index.html
The search word is "母子健康手帳".

Medical Expense Subsidies for Infants

Matsudo City provides subsidies for children up to sixth grade to pay a part of their medical expenses, given that a specified set of conditions for the children are met.
When you move into Matsudo, please be sure to get "Child Medical Expense Subsidies Tickets" (Kodomo Iryohi Josei Jukyuken) for children who are in third grade or under. Without the tickets you cannot receive the subsidies.

For children between fourth and sixth grade, Matsudo City doesn’t provide "Child Medical Expense Subsidies Tickets" (Kodomo Iryohi Josei Jukyuken). The subsidy is provided after the child goes to the hospital and pays the medical bill.
For application of reimbursement (payback), please come to the Subsidy Office with the receipt from the hospital, personal seal, child’s health insurance card, and parent/guardian’s health insurance card within two years.
