2) Matsudo City pays a part of doctor's fees and medicines charged to single parents and their children when they receive medical treatment with health insurance. However, income restrictions apply.

Welfare Programs for Senior Citizens

 

■ Health and Medical Program for Senior Citizens
Anyone who is covered by public health insurance plans is eligible to receive medical treatment under the Health and Medical Program for the Aged when he/she reaches 75 years of age (65 years of age if disabled) regardless of income.  Qualified persons receive a health handbook and a Medical Benefits Receivers Card.  When receiving medical treatment, these documents must be presented together with a health insurance certificate.

■ Support for Senior Citizens Living Alone and Bed-Ridden Senior Citizens
Matsudo City provides senior citizens living alone and bed-ridden senior citizens with dinner delivery service and dispatch of helpers. 
Some of them are free of charge, the others are charged.

Facilities
There are facilities specifically designed for use by senior citizens in the city.  All citizens aged 60 and older can use the Senior Citizens Welfare Center (Rojin Fukushi Center) for socialization.  
There are also nursing homes for those who wish to live, including the Ordinary Care Nursing Home (Yogo Rojin Home) and the Special Care Nursing Home (Tokubetsu Yogo Rojin Home), the Care House and the Pay Nursing Home (Yuryo Rojin Home).

Welfare Programs for Disabled

 

■ Handbook for Disabled
Matsudo City issues the "Handbook for the Physically Disabled (Shintai Shogaisha Techo) " to registered foreign residents who are physically disabled and the "Care Handbook (Ryoiku Techo) " to the mentally disabled foreign residents.  After obtaining these handbooks, they will be able to receive various benefits.

Allowances
Welfare allowances for disabled persons are as follows;

"Welfare Allowance for the Bed-Ridden Physically Disabled" for those who are 18 to 65 years old
"Welfare Allowance for Disabled Children" for those who are under 20 years old
"Special Allowance for the Disabled," national programs for those who are 20 years old and over 
"Special Allowance for Disabled Children"  
   offers financial assistance to households which care for the disabled under the age of 20.
"Welfare Allowance for Mental and Physical Disabled Children"
    which is supported independently by Matsudo City. 

*Please note that there are restrictions related to those who are receiving other allowances, income and number of occupants in welfare facilities.

 

Allowances for Medical Expenses
When severely disabled persons receive medical treatment, Matsudo City pays for the portion of medical expenses which are normally paid by patients.

 

Other Support Programs for the Disabled
Other support programs available for the disabled include: the "Welfare Taxi" program to help the disabled use taxis to go to medical and other facilities, and a program which pays a portion of gasoline expenses for cars owned and used for the transportation of the disabled, and discount programs for use of railways, buses, taxis, airplanes, expressways, taxes etc.
